Principal Investigator Michelle Touton Staley, R.P.A., received an M.A. in Anthropological Sciences from Stanford University. While at Stanford, Ms. Staley completed fieldwork at a prehistoric site in Peru and a medieval site in Rome, but found her true calling while working as a student Crew Chief for the Tennessee Hollow Watershed Archaeology Project at the San Francisco Presidio. After graduation, Ms. Staley spent a year as a contract field archaeologist before settling down to focus on the archaeology of the Bay Area.
During her 15 years of experience in Bay Area archaeology, Ms. Staley has developed research interests including contact-period archaeology and the application of technology in archaeology. She is especially interested in mapping and imaging technologies, 3D scanning and printing, and virtual reconstruction.
